June Employee Spotlight: Rob Wilke, Creative Director

Hometown
Coventry, England

Where did you go to school?
I received my Communications degree from the University of Windsor and then started learning how to be a copywriter at Humber College in Toronto.

Where do you find creative inspiration?
The web. The collective knowledge and experience of the entire planet is now accessible online. It’s an amazing thing and if you can’t find inspiration in there somewhere, you’re really not looking hard enough.

What’s your favorite cereal?
Cocoa Mini-Wheats

What are your top 3 interests outside of work?
My wife and kids, playing soccer and music.

What’s your favorite YouTube video?
How long is a piece of string?

What’s the best ad campaign of all time?
It’s definitely not Apple’s 1984. Can we stop with that already? Apple’s MAC v PC campaign is great though. It's fun but totally ruthless in terms of the strategy. It's also simple. For me, a really simple idea with really great writing wins every time.

What was your first job?
I delivered the Windsor Star newspaper.

What did it teach you?
That I didn’t want to work outdoors.

Do you cook? What is your favorite recipe?
I can cook a bit but my wife’s much better at it and she really enjoys it, so I leave it to her usually. My favorite recipes almost all involve doing something with ground beef.
